I had the pleasure recently of working with Albany-based personal trainer Brendon Parks to help with his company launch and logo design. Please learn more about this project here!
Music Monday: Koncept and J57 Share “Porcelain” Video
This post originally appeared on 12ozProphet.com.
Currently based out of NYC, Koncept and J57 have certainly been getting their hands dirty this year, and quite literally so in their new video. The duo has been slaving away at their highly anticipated EP, titled The Fuel, and sculpting it with the rawest material there is: heart.
The first single off the 8-track EP, “Porcelain” features Hollis, whose voice is intoxicating and found itself very much at home, as sandwiched with support from Koncept’s passion-filled vocals and J57’s hauntingly beautiful production. Hollis handles the hook for “Porcelain” with a treatment that completes the track fully and elevates it to a higher level, much like she did for Macklemore’s “White Walls,” back in 2013.
The visuals, as filmed and directed by the Vinton Depiction team, are a wonderful accent to the track, taking us to the coasts of Oregon where the legendary Goonies was filmed.
The video features the song’s creators experiencing life’s natural and fragile beauty through destruction, during scenes that showcase a precarious balance of what is deeply personal and what is mysterious, much like the song itself.
With EP and “Porcelain” artwork by Chris B. Murray, stunning video production by Vinton Depiction and of course, incredible musicianship by Koncept and J57, The Fuel EP is to be signed, sealed and delivered with genuine artistic expression at its purest form, sure to set the bar high for other artists and their future releases alike.
The Fuel EP is slated to drop November 20th via KON57 Records and is currently available for pre-order via iTunes.
Collaboration with Artist Caitlin McCourt for the Albany Barn
Albany-based artist Caitlin McCourt asked me to collaborate with her on a new piece, specifically created for the Albany Barn's annual Fusion event. Caitlin wanted to focus on celebrating the career accomplishments of journalist Nellie Bly, for she is considered one of the first pioneers to step out of the shadow of men in the workforce. Nellie Bly is revolutionary, legendary and simply bad ass. It was fun researching and reading about her career, especially considering her work has helped pave the way for women like myself to be taken seriously in the industry, in field reporting and journalism specifically. Caitlin captured Nellie's spirit wonderfully, and I loved helping out with the concept.
